Description:

In 1142 and 1156 Henry "the Lion" Welf inherited the Duchy of Saxony. A dynastic conflict between Henry and Emperor Frederick "Barbarossa" Hohenstaufen resulted in his deposition and the deconstruction of Saxony
dissolving into many states. The privleges of the duchy were transfered to the County of Anhalt.
