Description:
In 2002, the African Union Peace and Security Council was established to manage conflict resolution and diplomacy across the continent. It replaced the OAU’s limited mechanisms and gave the AU a stronger role in preventive diplomacy, peacekeeping, and post-conflict reconstruction. The council has since been involved in mediating crises in countries like Sudan, Somalia, and the Central African Republic.
