jan 1, 350 - Fall of Kush (Meroë destroyed by Aksum) – (c. 350 CE)
Description:
Kush’s decline was gradual, driven by deforestation, soil exhaustion, and shifting trade routes. The final blow came from the Kingdom of Aksum, a rising Christian power in the Ethiopian highlands. King Ezana’s forces sacked Meroë, ending Kushite rule. This marked a major geopolitical shift in East Africa, as Aksum became the new regional hegemon and a bridge between Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Indian Ocean world.
