jan 1, 600 BC - Confucianism is Popularized in China – (c. 600 BCE)

Description:

Around 600 BCE, during the later part of the Zhou Dynasty, China entered a time of political instability known as the Spring and Autumn Period. In response to the growing disorder, a thinker named Confucius (Kong Fuzi) began teaching ideas about respect, responsibility, and moral leadership. His teachings emphasized that rulers should lead by example, children should honor their parents, and society should be guided by fairness and virtue—not just power.

Although Confucius lived a bit later (born in 551 BCE), the conditions around 600 BCE—with weak central rule and constant fighting between states—set the stage for his ideas to emerge and spread. His philosophy would later become a major part of Chinese government, education, and family life for thousands of years.
