-western borders secured/recognised, use of force renounced, permanent demilitarisation of the Rhineland, start of negotiations to allow Germany into League of Nations

-Stresemann hoped it would lead to greater recognition of Germany as European power/starting to reenter European community e.g. agreement of peace with France
