Mortal Kombat is widely known for its (almost) unprecedented levels of blood and gore, especially with its "Fatality" moves, where you can deal a brutal finishing move to your opponent after his health is at 0. These include:

Scorpion: Removes his mask, revealing his skull, then breathes fire which reduces the opponent to a skeleton.

Kano: Plunges his fist into the opponent and tears his heart out, and then holds it up for the audience to see.

Johnny Cage: Uppercuts the opponent in the head, causing it to detach and fly through the air as it showers the ground with blood.

Sub-Zero: Yanks out the opponent's head with the spinal column still attached.
