Brian Thompson, CEO of the American health insurance company United Healthcare, was shot and killed in Midtown Manhattan on December 4, 2024. Luigi shot the United Healthcare CEO in an attempt to spark change with health insurance after growing increasingly frustrated with it. He then fled the scene leaving behind bullets with the words "Deny, Defend, Depose" etched on him. He became a folk hero to many online. His trail at the time of writing this is currently ongoing.
