Rev. William Stryker runs as an independent in the general election. While he comes in third place, he does divert a significant number of votes away from the Republican candidate, and highlights a growing culture of people on the Right who view the direction the country is heading as negative, especially after the NYE attacks. In his "concession" speech he notes that the country needs Patriots to stand up and say that they aren't going to take it any more. Hydra begins running with this messaging online, using "The Patriot Movement" as the banner for a swell of support from the Right.
