-The Gospel said that people with great wealth were had not only great power but great responsibilities; It was their duty to use their riches to advance social progress
-Andrew Carnegie elaborated on this in his book The Gospel of Wealth, in which he wrote that the wealthy should consider all revenues in excess of their own needs as "trust funds" to be used for the good of the community
-Led to the philanthropy by many Robber Barons and Captains of industry such as Carnegie
