Description:

The U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) hosts a public meeting to identify opportunities to protect the nation’s blood supply from AIDS. The Surgeon General, as well as representatives from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the blood services and hemophilia communities, and gay activists attend. The Surgeon general delivers a statement from the President, indicating that the government will fund additional research, and allocate additional resources, to the study of AIDS and the treatment of those affected by it.
