sep 5, 1774 - The First Continental Congress

Description:

Representatives from each colony met up in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia. The colonies had differences of opinion, but everyone agreed that the King and Parliament needed to understand the grievances of the colonies. On October 14, the Declaration and Resolves established the course of the colonies, as a statement of principles all the colonies stood behind. Something devised at the Continental Congress was Galloway's Plan, which proposed that the colonies should reconcile with Great Britain. However, that plan was rejected by a six to five vote on October 22. Galloway's plan being rejected showed that colonists no longer wanted to mend ties with Britain, but separate instead.
