aug 23, 1775 - Proclamation of Rebellion August 23, 1775

Description:

The Proclamation of Rebellion, officially titled A Proclamation for Suppressing Rebellion and Sedition, was King George III's response to the Battle of Bunker Hill and the inevitable war to follow. The proclamation, which was issued on August 23, 1775, also served as the royal response to the Olive Branch Petition. This was because the petition was received after the proclamation was written, but before it was released. The Proclamation of Rebellion was the final straw for more moderate members of the Continental Congress, who finally saw that King George III and Parliament had no interest in conceding to the colonists.
