Animojis not enough? Shortly after releasing iOS 11, Apple released iOS 11.1 with some bug fixes and about 240 new emoji ("iOS 11.1 Emoji Changelog"). Some of the emojis that received a lot of attention were the hijab emoji and the pack of gender neutral emojis (Sulleyman, 2017). As we continue to make huge steps toward learning to diversify and accept different races, religions, orientations, of course emoji needs to follow suit. Many people were ecstatic at the continued diversification, but of course others were skeptical and it caused a spark of controversy (Moye, 2017).
