The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies held in Philadelphia from September 5 to October 26, 1774. It was held to discuss the colonial response to the Intolerable Acts, which were intended to punish the city of Boston for the events of the Boston Tea Party. In the end, they agreed to send a declaration of grievances to King George III and to meet again if their complaints had not been properly adressed.
