Description:

in 1805 britain and france are warring and both want the U.S. as an ally, and both are taking ships and people. The embargo act says that US ships cant leave home ports until Britain and Frence lift their resprictions. it had a really bad effect on the economy, raised concerns about expansion of federal power and was repealed in 1809, BUT it kept neutrality in the war.
