So before Jackson was pres the Protective Tariffs passed which made Imports more expensive.
-Jackson didn't favor them but he didn't do anything about them.
-Congress reaffirmed it in 1832
However, John C. Calhoun HATEEDDDDDDD it and threatened to cede from the Union.
-SO he created the doctrine of nullification
which said states don't have to follow laws that they think are unconstitutional
