Jefferson wanted trading rights in the Mississippi river so he sends James Monroe over w 2 million to get them. But Napoleon was struggling with the Louisiana territory anyways and sold it to Napoleon for $15 mill. Since phones didn't exist ofc bro took the offer to double the U.S.
When Jefferson heard abt this he was like bro the constitution doesn't allow the pres to buy land but then justified his actions wit the idea that they could go westward and push natives even farther...
