Description:
On 20th August 1619, a ship with around 20 captive African laborers arrived in Point Comfort, Virginia, a part of British North America. Just several days later, another ship arrived with additional slaves that were traded in exchange for supplies. This event marked the beginning of the system of slavery that would define America for centuries to come.
