dec 23, 2012 - Syrian chemical weapon-use
Description:
Following a half-year of surveillance regarding Assad's chemical weapon stockpile, the first claim of its use hits when seven people are killed in Homs by "poisonous gas" following symptoms such as nausea, relaxed muscles, blurred vision, and difficulty breathing. Throughout the war, the Assad regime will use chemical weapons, gassing thousands of civilians just by the end of 2013, such as with the large-scale attack on Ghouta in which upwards of 1,700 are killed - many of whom are women and children.
The US is criticized for its lack of intervention allowing for the mass killings of civilians via chemical weapons, unlike its intervention in Libya.
