Description:

around a month after Hitler becomes Chancellor and NSDAP is the largest party in Reichstag the fire happens

The fire was set to the Reichstag building
- the fire reports are sent at 9 pm
- Hitler was having dinner with Goebbels
- The whole lower house was engulfed
- Goering declared it a Bolshevik crime
- burned for three hours and caused a million pounds of damage
- Marinus Van Der Lubber was arrested immediately and was found with matches
- it is important that he is a communist

With this opportunity Hitler blames all communists for this fire and uses Article 48 to arrest all of them.
- KPD became suppressed
- SA is given freedom to attack Nazi opponents due to Nazi control over police force
- 70 killed
