The laws were a tax on corn imports to stop competition with British farmers, but raised prices
The Anti-Corn Law League began campaigning lead by MP John Bright
Used peititons pamphlets non violent protests and targetted elections to gain support
After a poor harvest, and famine in ireland the law was repealed
