Description:
The Warsaw pact was created by the Soviet union and seven other easter bloc countries (mainly communist). This was made as a direct counter to NATO. It also helped strengthen the Soviet Union and help attain its goals of expansion. It was a method of defense in case the rising tensions between the USSR and the West were to break out into a fight, especially due to the recent formation of NATO.
