oct 16, 1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis
Description:
The cuban missile crisis, from the 16-28 of october, 1962, happened when U.S. planes found soviet nuclear weapons in Cuba. This happened after fidel castro overthrew the U.S. aligned government, and then backed the soviets in the Cuban revolution of 1961. This was in part due to the U.S. having missiles in turkey. In the end, the USSR agreed to get rid of the missiles in Cuba, and the U.S. got rid of its missiles in Turkey. It also led to the Nuclear test ban treaty of 1963, and the U.S. and Cuba were very hostile for a long period of time.
