Description:
This was the first major crisis of the cold war. The USSR blocked land and rail access to West Berlin to force the allies out of the city. This resulted in the Berlin Airlift to get supplies to West Berlin. The soviets lifted the blockade in May of 1949 but the divide between East and West Germany was made worse therefore heightening Cold War tensionsAdded to timeline:
