jun 17, 1775 - Battle of Bunker Hill

Description:

Despite the name of the battle, the fighting actually took place at Breed’s Hill in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
The result of the Battle of Bunker Hill was a colonial loss, although they inflicted significant casualties against Britain.
The Battle of Bunker Hill was significant because although the Americans lost, the amount of casualties the untrained colonial forces were able to inflict on the British gave them confidence and it showed the British that they were going to have to prepare and actually fight the war to win.
The effect of this event on the war is that it changed the nature of the war, as it made the British realize that they were going to have to fight the war fully to win and it showed that the colonial forces were not going to beaten as easily as Britain previously thought.
