Failures:
-Economic crisis of 1947:
-WW2 left Britain with lots of debt and the
Anglo-American loan granted to help fix
this was only paid off in 2006
-Balance of Payments crisis by 1949:
-Loss of confidence
-Nationalisation:
-The government payed compensation to
previous industries
-People believed it cost the government
money and failed to provide a different
service
-Housing:
-By March 1945, 750,000 more houses were
needed, but the houses made were poor
quality
-Foreign Policy
-Accused of being Conservative
-Division of Germany
-Korean War showed Britain needed a re-
armament programme
