The last US troops are withdrawn from Iraq after nine year of fighting. Over 1 million US troops served in Iraq during this time while the entire war cost the US $800 billion, 4,500 American lives, and over 100,000 Iraqi lives.Shortly after US withdrawal, an arrest warrant is signed for Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi as he is accused of organizing hit squads to assassinate Shiite government officials. He denies all accusations and flees before he can be arrested. A Sunni boycott against parliament erupts as a response.
