Description:

The Battle of Hampton Roads took place in a roadstead in Virginia. There were 5 Union frigates there when the CSS Virginia, the first Confederate ironclad was released on a test run. The first Union ironclad, the USS Monitor, was released to save the wooden frigates a day later, a little bit too late because 2 ships, the USS Cumberland and USS Colombia had already been destroyed. At the end of the battle, both ironclads went home thinking they won.
