nov 10, 1938 - Kristallnacht
Description:
Kristallnacht was an incredibly violent, state sponsered attack on the jewish people of Germany and Austria. Thousands of synagogues were burned or vandalized, businesses were destroyed and looted, and thousands of Jewish men were arrested and sent to concentration camps such as Dachau and Buchenwald. It was triggered when a 17 year old polish jew, Herschel Grynszpan, shot a german diplomat in France. The nazis then used this as an excuse to launch the attack. Additionally, the Jews were later blamed for the destruction, and forced to pay a fine of 1 billion Reichsmarks.
