mar 1, 1938 - Anschluss with Austria
Description:
The Anschluss with Austria is the german name for Nazi Germany's annexation of Austria in 1938. Hitler put an immense amount of pressure on Austria's chancellor, Kurt Schuschnigg, to allow more nazi influence. Eventually he resigned when Hitler threatened military action, and was replaced with a nazi sympathizer, Arthur Seyss-Inquart. Afterwards, Hitler held a staged vote for Austria to join Germany, where almost 100% voted yes. Then, the Anschluss was finished.
