It’s Valentine's Day and Zack Snyder is in a loving mood. Earlier today the famous director treated Justice League fans to the official trailer for the Snyder Cut version of Justice League which will be available on HBOMax on March 18th.
The four-hour film is a redo of the critically panned 2017 film which featured Josh Whedon as the director. Whedon took over after Snyder stepped down to deal with a family emergency. Eventually, word got out that Whedon’s film was a total departure from Snyder’s original vision so fans demanded to see Snyder’s version. Honestly, it’s a whole thing. To get caught up on the ordeal, check out our handy guide to the Snyder Cut.
Anyways, back to the trailer. Snyder had been teasing it all week, dropping new sneak peaks, such as a glimpse of the batmobile and a look at Jared Leto as the Joker, on social media. The official trailer expands on those earlier previews with sweeping fight scenes and close ups of the super villain Darkseid and a very distraught looking Superman clad in a shiny black suit. There’s also high-stakes banter between Affleck’s Batman and Leto’s Joker which is attracting a lot of attention on DC Comics Twitter. “We live in a society, where honor is a distant memory” says Leto’s Joker in a mischievous whisper. Wait until someone tells him Trump was acquitted.
Snyder has promised fans that his cut will include several minutes of new footage featuring Ben Affleck as Batman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Amber Heard as Mera. Jared Leto, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, and Ezra Miller also star in the new Justice League.
