jun 4, 1961 - Vienna summit
Description:
-Khrushchev and Kennedy met up to discuss issues
-The Berlin Question remained unresolved
-The Laos Question: During Eisenhower's presidency, the US supported the kingdom of Laos (a right-wing government) to counter the threat raised by the communist party Pathet Laos. Both the Soviets and the Americans knew that a proxy war in Laos would drive both states further into an arms race. A decision was reached, a "neutral and independent Laos chosen by the Laotians themselves", which was thought to benefit both parties
-This likely reduced tensions as the leaders were working together effectively
