Description:
Following the withdrawal of British troops from Iran after the conclusion of WWII, it became apparent that the USSR did not intend to following through with the agreement to withdraw. The Soviet's began training troops from Azerbaijan, a puppet state of the USSR, and separatist Kurds, an ethnic group spanning across Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria. These troops would then engage in fighting with the Iranian forces resulting in 2,000 casualties.
Following intense pressure from the United States, the Soviet's withdrawal in December, and the separatist Azerbaijan and Kurdish states dissolve.
