Description:
Fearing they have fallen behind the rest of the world, Afghanistan under King Amir Amanullah Khan begins a series of socioeconomic reforms in an attempt to modernize the state such as with the creation of a constitution, establishment of a legislative entity, improvement of the court system, opening of a national bank, transition to paper currency, and reform for women's rights and education.
Khan is eventually forced to flee the country after facing immense pushback from critics.
