Description:

The Treaty of Shimonoseki was signed after Japan's win in the First Sino-Japanese War.

- China had to give Taiwan and the Pescadores Islands to Japan.
- Japan gained control of Port Arthur and
Dalian (not sure about spelling).
- China had to pay a large amount of money and allow Japan more rights in China.

This treaty showed Japan’s rise as a power and weakened China further.
