Description:
The Estates-General of France was a general assembly meant to make decisions for the country. It consisted of the First (clergy), Second (noble), and Third (working class) Estates, which each had an equal vote. The National Assembly was formed when the Third Estate broke off from the Estates-General and declared themselves the National Assembly.
