Description:
The RMS Lusitania sank during World War I, after being torpedoed by the German submarine U-20. The attack occurred about 11 nautical miles off the Old Head of Kinsale, Ireland, as the ship was nearing the end of her 202nd trans-Atlantic crossing from New York to Liverpool. Of the 1,960 people aboard, only 763 survived, resulting in a tragic loss of 1,197 lives, including 94 children and about 128 Americans.
