Description:
Nine black students, known as the Little Rock nine, attempted to integrate Central High School in Little Rock Arkansas, following the supreme court decision in Brown v. Board of Education. Their enrollment was met with resistance, Orval Faubus, Arkansas governor deployed National Guard to block the Little Rock from going inside. President Hower eventually sent federal troops to escort the students into the school and ensure their safety, marking one of the first significant federal interactions in the Civil RIght Movement.
