mar 18, 1965 - Extravehicular Activity
Description:
Alexei Leonov and Neil Armstrong were the first humans to perform a spacewalk in 1965 and 1969 respectively. In 1984, Svetlana Savitskaya became the first woman to perform a spacewalk. On the last three Moon missions, astronauts performed deep-space EVAs to retrieve film canisters from the spacecraft. In 1973, American astronauts Pete Conrad, Joseph Kerwin, and Paul Weitz used EVA to repair launch damage to Skylab, the US's first space station. These achievements demonstrate the importance of space exploration and EVA in astronaut history.
