feb 14, 1929 - Saint Valentine's Day Massacre
Description:
The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre was a murder on February 14, 1929, in Chicago, involving seven members of Chicago's North Side Gang. The men were gathered at a Lincoln Park garage and shot by four unknown assailants, two of whom were disguised as police officers. The murders occurred during Prohibition competition between the Irish North Siders and their Italian rivals, the Chicago Outfit. The perpetrators have never been definitively identified, but former members of the Egan's Rats gang working for Capone are suspected, and some believe members of the Chicago Police Department played a part.
