During Caliph Uthman’s reign (644–656 CE), Islam expanded rapidly, and regional differences in Quranic recitation emerged.To prevent variations, Uthman ordered official copies of the Quran to be made based on Hafsa’s manuscript and distributed to major cities.
He also ordered the burning of any non-standard copies to ensure uniformity.
