jul 26, 1990 - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Description:
This act prohibited discrimination against individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, and education. This act included employment practices such as the hiring process and promotions, as well as access to public transportation, and the access to governmental services. Due to this act, employers and public entities are required to provide reasonable accommodations to allow those with disabilities to do their jobs effectively. The ADA set the standard for accessibility in buildings and other spaces that the public uses, requiring ramps, accessible entrances, and designated parking spots. (US Department of Labor)
