jan 1, 1821 - 1821 Revolt
Description:
A mass revolutionary movement in piedmont, Sardinia, took place in 1821. Led by Santorre di Santarosa, he wanted to remove Austrians and unify Italy. These revolts resulted in the King of Sardinia, Victor Emmanuel I, to abdicate the throne, as well as temporarily obtaining a constitutional monarchy. The Carbonari were a large part of this. However, the Kingdom of Sardinia called for Austrian aid, which then crushed the Carbonari and revolutionary movements, and restored things to how they once were.
