mar 30, 3 BC - John the Baptist
Born
Description:
The 8th division, the division of Abijah, i shich Zechariah served, would have served in the Temple around the end of June. This means that John was conceived around late June or early July. Nine months later, and John would have been born during the time of the festival of Passover.
This is hinted at in the text of the book of Luke, where Zechariah is told that John would be born “at the appointed time.” In the Torah, the biblical festivals are called “appointed times.” The rabbis in the Talmud connect that phrase specifically to Passover when they say that Isaac was born at Passover because the angel tells Abraham, “at the appointed time I will return to you.”
Also, Jewish tradition connects the coming of the prophet Elijah to prepare the way of the Messiah to the festival of Passover, which is why we set a place for Elijah at the seder table and open the door to welcome him in.
