Description:

The first internal combustion engine was invented in 1859 by French chemist and engineer Lenoir. The invention was “a two-stroke internal combustion engine.”(Ref. 1). This invention had a economic impact as it was a stepping stone into more powerful machinery and was readily used in France and Europe for pumps and printing presses. The engine was also used for early locomotives like Lenoir's Hippo mobile.
