dec 30, 563 BC - Birth Of Buddhism
Description:
While Siddhartha Gautama was born around 623 BCE, He started the religion in 563 BC, due to what we call "The Four Sights of Buddha". He saw an old man, a sick man, a dead body, and an ascetic Monk meditating under a tree. These sights sparked a feeling in him, so he ran away from home and started to teach. The feeling is called Samvega, Samvega is a Buddhist term that refers to a feeling of shock and spiritual urgency to escape the cycle of life. Buddhism is a way of life, not just a religion. Buddhists follow a life of abstinence, denying themselves physical pleasures, so they remain celibate and follow a strict code of conduct.
