Precursor to the synthesiser, it used the user's hands to control the oscilation, pitch and amplitude of the sound signals which were send to an amplifier to convert the signals to waves. However, it could only produce sine waves, and it was highly inaccurate to achieve a set note as it relied on the position of the hand to generate sound.Added to timeline:
