mar 19, 1389 - Grand Prince of Moscow

Description:

The title of Grand Prince had started to shift from Kiev to Vladimir in 1186. For the next 200 year Vladimir was seen more as the center of Russian authority.

Ivan I of Moscow, had no hereditary claim on Vladimir, but by order of the Khan was given rule of both Moscow & Vladimir in 1332.

Due to fear of Moscow's growing influence, the the title was reverted away in 1359, and again in 1371. However as Tver (holder of Vladimir) was revolting against the Horde, the Khan reverted it back to Dmitry in 1375.

Dmitry won a decisive battle vs the Horde in 1380, and was the unchallenged leader of Moscow and Vladimir. He left Vladimir to his son, who took up the moniker "Grand Prince of Vladimir and Moscow."
