jan 1, 1939 - 6.8: caustaion. immigration in the gilded age.

Description:

During the Gilded Age, new immigrants from the southern and eastern parts of Europe and Asia. The immigrants which came from the Europe tended to settle in industrial areas and compared to the old immigrants who were British, Irish and German, didn't really have good knowledge and mostly were unskilled. The Asians which at first Chinese and later Japanese came to the US tended to settle in the west coast and helped out in the railroads industry. Many people in the US were afraid of their jobs being taken by immigrants, so they were mostly against immigrants at this time, because immigrants would work half the wages of the regular American workers at that time and factories would easily hire them. Migration also happened in the US, in which African Americans mostly moved from the south to the north due to Jim crow segregation laws, which they faced racism. So, they mostly migrated to cities like Chicago and New York in the north.
