The three most important people at this time which in the point of view of history is either known by captains of industry or Robber Barons are Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller, and J P Morgan. These individuals were in three different industries and dominated those industries. Andrew Carnegie was the man who was in steel industry, and actually a lot of skyscrapers that were made at that time was made of steels. Andrew Carnegie used vertical integration in which he also owned other parts of the industry until the product is done and distribution. On the other hand, John D Rockefeller was the guy who was in oil industry, his company (standard oil) owned almost 90% of oil thanks to the horizontal integration of John D Rockefeller. Horizontal integration was like making other companies weak and buying them for cheap and highering the prices back again. This way John D Rockefeller also made the competition so less, and basically created the monopoly which is a company dominating the whole industry. John D Rockefeller also was the one which made trust companies which is basically multiple companies under one big company name. J P Morgan was a banker and still today chase bank is the number one in the world which back then was owned by J P Morgan. Some of these individuals believed in the idea of social Darwinism which basically they used the theory of Darwin in economics and social aspects. Some of these individuals believed that rich are naturally rich and poor are naturally poor and it's the job of the rich to take over the poor. Andrew Carnegie was the one who wrote in his book the Gospel of the Wealth in which he basically encountered other rich individuals to go ahead and help out for the public. Andrew Carnegie made some public universities, museums, parks and etc. These individuals were dominating in each industry that they were active in, and they did not treat their workers very good.
